The Great Achievement of Computer Chess

We set a goal as human beings to make a computer play better chess than a human being. It took 50 years and it took some of the best minds in computer science working on it but we eventually achieved that goal. Does that mean computers are artificially intelligent well in the narrow sense of playing chess?
