The Highway Code and Its History

As vehicles become more sophisticated, ross busier and more complex, the highway code has to respond to how the roads are changing. So you can see this shift in the idea that cars used to be something that gentlemen of a certain class took out for a spin for fun. And it starts to hint at the democratization, not just of driving, but of britain itself. In later editions they rewrite it because, quite simply, it used too many long words.
