Do Political Leaders Not Care About Economic Harms?
Do political leaders not just give a damn? I think it was actually a very odd ethical thing at the beginning of the pandemic, where if you brought up economic harms at all, you were seen as callous. When you throw a hundred million people around the world into poverty, you're going to see enormous harm to their health and mortality. It is not immoral to think about that in the context of this pandemic response. Our mind focused so much on COVID that it forgot that there are so many other public health priorities as well that need our attention desperately.
