I Struggled to Self Identify as a Feminist When I Was Growing Up

Many black women are intimidated by feminism as it currently exists. They perceive it to be conflict with the equally pressing issue of race and ethenicity. A new political party was founded, the women's equality party. But i noticed when it was launched there were no black women from the launch. What concerned me was the idea that it didn't start with that voice. If you see feminism as something that affects women, and black women, or non white women, as a separate thing, then you're undermining the very essence of this cause.
