The Virtue of Humility
In humility something which exalts the mind and something in exaltation with a base of it. Augustine writes in his preface, I know what efforts are needed to persuade the proud. Humility leads to and supports other virtues, including justice, charity, mercy, piety and peace. Vicious pride rejects dependence on God and neighborly equality among humans. It seeks the priority and domination over others,. And it clients to arrogance to breaches of justice to civil strife, self-serving lies, and even war.
