A lot of the energy maybe that goes into these films in the 70s and 80s was being spent on the angry young men movies in the 50s and 60s. There's a similar kind of like British films reacting to the Noire movement, British films reacted to French connection and the New York cinema of like William Friedkin and that kind of thing. And I don't know that there are that many American filmmakers who could consider themselves influenced by Richie or say like they're an accolade of Richie.
