If a child doesn't owe their parent anything, how does that play out when parents expect them to do well in school? Who are they doing that for if it's not to meet the expectations of their parents? The worry as a parent that your child gets good grades is because you're thinking of their future and you're worried that they're closing some doors. Like again, that's you as a parent putting a burden on them.
