The Fed Wants to Move Increasively
The unemployment rate keeps notching up, even as the fed is now looking to tihtan rates. Normally it would want to ease policy if unemployment is rising. But now it's in a box where it's upposed to tighten policy. If youre so far behind the inflation curve, why don't you just go right up to two or three %? Not that that would even be effective, because that would still be too loose in the world of seven % plus inflation. Because the fed wants to move incrementally. And that goes back to allan green span. The fed basly made thesame mistake when they started raising intstrats in two thousand and four.
