The Value of Philosophical Modes of Inquiry
Philosophy seems to have its own unique cultural issues separate from social science or humanities. What about the idea that once upon a time people actually sought truth? And so if you're actually seeking transcendent truth, then you have to be collaborative because you know it's not about you. But once you accept the positivist turn in philosophy, and that essentially the job is just a kind of custodianship or, you know, a janitorial duty almost towards just making sure that propositions are valid and coherent, that that sort of lowers the aspiration of philosophy.
