In identity politics, society is a zero sum competition between groups. It seems like liberalism goes the opposite direction - it tends to focus on the individual. But in critical theory, one's identity does not derive from individual characteristics but from content of your character. And so if we have people developing their peculiar talents and tastes and and capabilitiesi gives us this varied and rich context in which we ourselves can think about the possibilities of lifed. The human good resides with the flourishing of the individual. That doesn't consist in an individual and conscious choices, right? Or in certain types of thought in particular groups. I think i want to returnn and mention jean jacques rousseau....
