I think Asian American people have this tendency to want to like min-max everything. I feel like there's something about Bay Area culture and people are age that have this like mindset of if something's not efficient, it's not worthwhile or happiness you know since it's not quantifiable oftentimes doesn't fit into this equation where it's like eh you know happiness is whatever let's min-max these numbers instead.
