Moderate realism is the idea that any essence that eventually exists to exist first in potentiality. Then there's nominalism, conceptualism and platonism. Platonism or a what hilary putnam calls metaphysical realism has this idea of platonic forms. And then we have an alternative view called am which says categories are not created by humans but pre-exist humans.
