Acute Chest Crisis During Pregnancy in Patients With Sickle Cell Disease?

There's anywhere between 7 to 20% incidence of acute chest syndrome in patients with home, almost like a sickle cell disease. An invasive occlusive crisis is actually much more common during pregnancy in patients with sickle cell. Treatment right now is still mainly supportive. Opioids are still a mainstay. epidurals can be therapeutic in vaso-occlusive crises of the legs.
