Nathan of gos was the first Jew to proclaim himself a messiah. The word spread quickly among jewish communities in palestine and syria. In some places, like apparently in aleppo, the jewish community is just like, great. We got the messiah. This is what we wanted. They run with it. But in jerusalem, there's more division. A lot of rabbis, you know, scholars, who are really steeped in talmud aren't so keen on him.
