Is It a Trivial Incident?
Human pride is the root of evil for Augustine, he says. Adam and Eve eating an apple in the garden of Eden seems to be quite a trivial incident. But if you see it as an instance of pride that God told you not to do, it can explain in Christian theology a great deal. The philosophical answer is that itís due to a will that falls away from God and becomes corrupt.
