Gramsci described the totality of forms of coercion and consent that a ruling group uses to govern a society. He's very interested in what the curriculum of those party schools would be. He says you begin with the common sense of ordinary people. And so one of his intriguing things will be to try to say, let's take the words that we use, the language that we use to shape that common sense.
