Is Ukraine a Candidate for EU Membership?
Ukraine's President Funderlion has opened a path for Ukraine to potentially join the EU. Many in the field have voiced concerns regarding how this could escalate tensions and exacerbate the war between Ukraine and Russia. It can take a decade of reforms before a country can be admitted, Poland made a formal request to join in 1994 and was finally admitted in 2004. This is a Herculean task that will be even more difficult while Ukraine is actively fighting the world's second most powerful military.
