Russia's Role in the Sudanese Conflict
Since the overthrow of Al-Bashir and the 2021 coup, both Al-Buhan and his second in line have been quite close to the Russian government. We've seen that initially with agreements favoring Russia's access to the Sudanese coal mines and natural resources. But what's equally of importance here is that negotiations on the establishment of a Russian navy base on the coast of Sudan have continued. So I believe there is some relevance for Russia as an actor in this conflict as well.
