The Importance of Listening to Others
There needs to be a middle ground where it's like, you can accommodate the fact that someone else's views might you might find them abhorrent. But until you can meet in the middle, form this basis of trust, there's absolutely no way of getting past that. The key thing is one listens to what the other side is saying, probes the evidence that they're providing and decides whether or not on the basis of the evidence, it is credible or not. This is a disaster because there are slightly boring formal theories about why democracies are more intelligent than oligarchism dictatorships.
