The Rise and Fall of the JCP

After the Cold War ended, when you might have expected communism to decline and decay as a political force, the JCP not only survived, but actually went on to achieve some of its best election performances. The Communist revival has also been boosted by literature. A manga form of Karl Marx's capital, Nkani Kosen, a 1929 Japanese novel about exploited workers on a crab boat sold 250,000 copies.
