Caesar was always known as a very fast marcher, and he lives up to his reputation here. He finally catches up to the helvetia near a river. Theyre crossing on a rickety raft bridge that they hastily constructed. Caesar waits and watches about three fourths of the helvesia are across the river. And then he attacks the remaining one fourth. It starts as a battle, but it quickly turns into a slaughter. This first attack is a major victory for the roman troops.
