How to Love Something You Don't Know?
The best place where augustine explores that question is with his mother, monica. In the writings of augustin, i think, again, she's there deliberately. She very deliberately undermines the nice map that he himself has drawn. So to come back to your question, she does know god. She may not have a clear intellectual concept of god, but she knows enough of god to have this incredibly strong love of him. That ultimately sways augustines sothe figure of monica is just fascinating. I believe it. I just still knot convinced as to the why. Like, what's the principle lik, why an we have love that commensurate with the knowledge
