The Rise and Fall of College Students
From the 1970s until today, the fraction of 18 to 24 year old Americans who were enrolled in full time, four year college education has doubled. What's happened is colleges and universities have run out of students who are looking for serious educations. They've spread their net more widely to students who maybe aren't interested in serious educations, but can pay tuition.
