Prophetic Speech Is Not Aimed at People Out There

When israel was idolatrous, it wasn't merely that they were doing worship wrong. Prophetic speech calls out public, ah, really, the lack of genuine piety. So when prophets call out the corporate people of god for being arranged socially into structures that are unjust, the prophet is putting himself on the line. And there's a way that whoever speaks to god's people that way, they portray themselves as holier than thou.
