The Ethics of the Bible
There's this tradition of reading the Bible in a contemporary Western context and even not so recent, which is to try and read the Bible for its ethics. This ends up pretty rapidly kind of devolving into either dismissal of the Bible as sort of like Greek philosophy for dummies or just straight up apologetics. So that's how I relate to Maimonides. He's a person of double identity and will never really know where his loyalty was. Maybe he didn't know. Maybe he had dual loyalty and I find that beautiful. And from Moses to Moses, there was no one like Moses.
