In Marx's view, socialism wasn't just going to happen because socialists were going to convince enough people to make it happen via their amazing arguments. It was going to happen as a result of some practical realities generated by capitalism itself. More and more people were going to be convinced by socialist arguments not because of the increasing quality of socialist orators but because capitalism was pushing them into a class position that inherently made Socialist ideas more attractive.
