The Importance of Perception in Art

When and how was it that philosophy of art became such an important part of your work? Or was it there embedded in the philosophy of mind, somehow, all along? I've always been very interested in the arts and puzzled by why they are valuable to us. But when I wrote my first book, which was called Action and Perception, I wasn't thinking about art at all. It's a friendly question for me because it lets me sort of reflect on how I got to where I'm going.
