The Cost of Compiling a Table in a Jet Environment
J. Foads is a new type of compiler for Microsoft's Windows operating system. It uses macros to make common things you must do and each primitive the same across all interpreters. But it does require somebody sit down and take their lumps by looking at every single primitive and mapping them into a common form. The key is that what's going to happen inside is that the cellular code that implements the, those primitive computations of a plus and times can be inlined in a J. F compilation.
