The History of Us Intervening in Nature Is Not a Very Good One

In the past, people introduced specious new areas for all sorts of reasons. Now we are maybe a little more careful now. And one of the examples s i mention in my book is tortoises. Because islands are where lots of extinctions have happened. We have lost some tortoises that were eca system engineers. But where they have gone extinct, then actually we can, for example, bring in a tortoise from another island that is playing that same role and is able to have huge impacts,. on the islandeke system.
