Sturgeon was brought into the S&P family by Alex Hammond, who inspired her as a leader. She learned the craft of being first minister, which is very tricky because everything comes across your desk in the end and you're to blame for the works. The dispute that erupted between them a couple of years ago involved accusations strongly denied by Mr. Sammond,. A deep disagreement about tactics towards independent of feeling among very traditionalist, strong, hard-line S&P members. All that led part of it personal, part of it political, to a split in the nationalist movement - Alba Party.
