Norsemen and Vikings

A Viking is a person who sets out by sea to explore and more specifically to raid and pillage. The original derivation of that word Viking is unclear, but it probably relates to the word VIC, meaning BAY along a sea coast. For several hundred years, going out on the sea and raiding became a crucial, even central, pillar of Norse civilization.
