The periostium is a thin layer of cells and fibrous tissue that goes around the bone. It has a relatively rich nerve and vascular supply. The majority of your pain, obvious, as maybe our sodan tld, you, would come from the periostrium because it's so richly enervated. Underneath: cortical bone, which is this thick, densely packed layers of mineral deposits.
