The Impact of Fiscal Deficits on Pakistan's Economy
Ms. Dohmer: Pakistan has a large and persistent fiscal deficit that is persistent. She says in countries, especially emerging and developing markets, tax or GDP ratio should be going up over time but it hasn't been the case for Pakistan. The current account deficit leads to imbalances in other parts of the economy, she adds. MsDohmer: We need cooling measures to cool down economic growth so they tend to import less.
