The Importance of Style Versus Substance in Labour Politics
I'm always rather skeptical of the idea that someone smiling and looking at winning is going to change the big sort of tectonic shifts. I mean, you know, there was an attitude in Labour that opinion polling was inherently consumerist; this was a sellout to conservatives. And there is that sort of quite sort of combative hostile attitude to the media to ways of electioneering, which is not something that Labour had always had. But no, I don't think that Ben would have sworn it for them.
