Today on the show, I speak to Heidi Howard about Paxos, a class of algorithms designed to help a network of machines replicate a shared state - also known as distributed consensus. If you want your system to scale, it needs to be a distributed system spanning multiple computers and therefore able to handle a cornucopia of failures.
