The Challenge Is Getting Smarter and Smarter

Anders Foer: We have very short termism as a result of capitalism. And that's created a lot of short termism, you know, humanity didn't always like investors demand results and they want them now. The other factor here is that these systems were joking about a moment ago, these learning systems are filled with defects. But when the system learned something correctly, it knows it forever. That's just not true for human beings. It takes 18 years or more to train a human in how to be an adult - we're fully formed as functioning adults. So we're at a structural disadvantage to these machines because they're going to keep getting smarter and they retain all that memory
