The Influence of Galen on Medicine
Galen acted his physician to the best and most influential men of Rome. His work still occupies some 22 volumes in the 19th century edition. After Galen's death, he left perhaps as many as 500 treaties. These works on diverse topics such as physiology, pharmacology, hygiene and dietics never cease to be copied and translated.
