The Black Panther Party and the FBI
Fred Hampton was the leader of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, based out of Chicago. The FBI considered him to be the number one threat to internal security in the United States. In 1968, early months of 1968, or the first times that J Edgar Hoover, who was then the director of the FBI, was giving explicit mandates to the organization that mentioned Fred Hampton specifically.
