How to Make a Spider
I think so much of fantasy is often about taking things that are like vaguely ridiculous on the surface and then committing to them as almost this like ruthless exercise of empathy. There's just so much random research on like, can spiders see color? Can spiders smell? Do they have a sense of smell? Like, I think we didn't know. These books do have, for me at least, the corrective on the spider. And if you're not a spider person, they're still... We have had friends say, you know, damn you, how did you make me like a spider?
