Cleveland Fed President, Loretta Mester was suggesting the same thing that they need to go a little higher to deal with inflation. Darius: Doesn't it just exacerbate some of what the strains were seeing in the banking sector? Darius: Yes, is kind of what they wanted. The Fed didn't hike interest rates so that there would be zero strain in the banks. That's not why they had interest rates. They had interest rates to cause strain in the bankingsector and ultimately sold the real economy.
