The Power of Existential Risks in the AI Movement

At the time I thought this was completely insane as an idea. It was much more committed only to global poverty. But now I think, no, we should take the ideas very seriously. Human extinction would involve the deaths of all 7 billion people on the planet. And it's hard to think that ensuring that we do continue civilization into the coming centuries could be anything more important than that.
