It's interesting you mentioned that it seemed to be there was growing recognition across the company that there was some challenges with the squad model. That sounds like almost the middle layer of the management structure was too loose right not enough alignment from top to bottom. So I think there might be some situation which matrix management can work, but it certainly was not working for Spotify when I joined. And I just haven't really seen that situation in my own career. Arise where it would work well for an organization.
