Introduction
Amos, chapter five: "O house of israel fallen, no more to rise" The lament might not be entirely clear about the tone of it. Is one voicing the lament mocking the people for their stubbornity? Or is it a genuine expression of distress and mourning? It seems more likely that disaster was never inevitable or unavoidable. And so they had to face the lord's judgment.
