The Story of Adam and Eve
In more recent time the story has been subject for controversy in terms of feminist re-writings of it, retellings of this together with other mythological stories. In the states you also have a kind of collision between Christian belief in the traditional stories of Genesis with a scientific worldview. I mean, it's easy to make fun of that peculiar, to me deeply peculiar desire to hold on to the literal belief and the truth of the story. But I'm not interested in making fun of people's tenaciously held beliefs. The story instead becomes a kind of emblem for what literature is, for what fiction is and why we need fiction.
