The Mormons Are Battening Down the Hatches
In September of 1857, a group of 150 odd immigrants from Arkansas and 30 wagons were passing through Mormon territory on their way to California. Brigham Young was preparing for total war with the United States. The Mormons would be able to kill as many soldiers as the government was willing to send. In other words, it's a finely time to get into the mountain meadows massacre.
