Quantum Mania: A Satellite for Deep Space
Professor Andrew Briggs is the inaugural holder of the statutory chair in nanomaterials at the University of Oxford. He's got a particular interest in incorporating materials and techniques for quantum technologies in practical devices. At this scale, you have an effect called quantum superposition, which essentially means that an atom can be both here and there at the same time. Quantum entanglement gets even stranger when particles link up no matter how far apart they are in space. It may be the case that no one yet understands what's really going on with quantum physics, but Professor Briggs says it's still mathematically explicable.
