The Role of Conversational Search in Academic Research

I think IR has been around for a long time. Like in web search, we academics maybe use web search type collection sometimes. But this is not necessarily the most common case. There's all sorts of other types of search that people would do research on. So like conversational search is maybe a really good recent example where this is just a new paradigm. I guess you can argue large language models are doing a lot of this now.
