The Ecology of the Sand Dunes at Santa Monica

An endangered bird species, which is known as the Western snowy plover, had come back after no sightings in over a decade. The birds were breeding on the dunes, right? So they're attracted to the, you know, what they see. They look to tourists, like, did it affect their appreciation or their ability to utilize the beach? I don't think it did at all. It's also important to note that there was minimal human involvement after the fences were put in. And interestingly, the different plants that they had seeded on these sand dunes, they ended up growing in different places on the dune.
