How to Contain Anxiety

Contain the thought, put it in on the back burner, check in on it at another time. The body is reacting as it will to stress hormones and just accept that. Instead of trying to make it stop right away, ride it out, accept it. And so you can use your senses to help you come into the present moment. You go to a senses, intrusive thought pops up. You get focused in the pres moment. But right now you've been going down the worm hole with these intrusive thoughts. So that is how you are wired.
