The Mall's Opening Day

The Mall of America opened its doors to the public on November 1, 1987. It is now home to more than 500 retail stores and two built-in hotels. The mall also boasts an indoor amusement park, an aquarium, a movie theater, even a wedding chapel. Despite all the frenzy, police and mall officials reported no major problems.
